Wedding venues in Ottawa
If you’ve got forever on your mind and you’re contemplating getting married in Ottawa, you should know there are a whole bunch of options for both the wedding ceremony itself and the reception. Not only are there endless options in Ottawa, Gatineau, Quebec is right across the river with a ton of beautiful venues to choose from as well.
Most wedding planners will tell you that you need to book at least a year (or more) in advance and while that’s usually true during the high season, you might be able to get away with a little less notice if you’re going to get married in the winter, say, around Valentine’s Day?
Of course you want your day to be perfect and whether you’ve chosen Ottawa because it’s a city you love, or because you have family and friends nearby, wedding guests coming to Ottawa for the first time will not be at a loss for things to do. For some options, feel free to check out the rest of the posts in this blog, and specifically Anneke’s posts about frugal fun (especially with kids).
Also – if you’ve got a Twitter account, check out this excellent resource @askaroundottawa. It’s basically a team of great Ottawans that like to compile all sorts of local information in one spot!
So – on to the list…everyone will have their favourites and so do I. If you have a favourite that’s not mentioned on this list, or if you think your wedding venue should be here, please comment and I’ll be sure to add it!

I like taking fall pictures from along the Ottawa River Parkway. There are a number of parks, beaches, places to park. I’ve stopped at all to take photos. You should get a nice fall foliage backdrop at that time, as well as the river. If you arrange yourselves the right way, you could get the parliament buildings in the background, albeit at an angle. I also like the idea of the museum of civilizations spot, but maybe check that you don’t need photographers permit first. Some popular spots have something like that. I’ve seen beautiful wedding photos from that spot. I’ve also seen beautiful wedding photos taken from the Chateau Laurier, but I’m almost certain they had to pay for the privilege to take photos on their balcony. Seems that places that you’ve suggested are really good for them to celebrate – not only for wedding but also for special occasions like anniversaries, Christenings and Communions.
Hello, always i used to check weblog posts here in the early hours in the break of day, for the reason that i like to gain knowledge of more and more.
The ceremony was great! Everybody gave many compliments as to how it ran smoothly and was personal and intimate. Thank you for helping make this possible.
I got married at the Strathmere Inn. It was a gorgeous “country” wedding, with an outdoor ceremony and photos in the garden and beside the nearby farmer’s field.
It’s not in Ottawa proper, but it’s a short trip outside Ottawa Centre along Prince of Whales Drive. I’d recommend it.
