Much to the surprise and delight of everyone in Ottawa (well, okay, all the sex-positive, activist, queer artists in Ottawa), Annie Sprinkle is doing one of her huge, multi-media performance art Ecosexual Weddings here in town. THIS SATURDAY!!!
“What on earth is in Luskville??” I hear you say, perhaps adding that you’ve never heard of the place, or that you have and it’s all farmland.
It’s also right under the Eardley Escarpment, a section of the Gatineau Hills known for it’s gorgeous and frequently challenging hiking trails.

When people think “fashion” in Canada, they think of Montreal or maybe (maybe) Toronto, whereas when they think “Ottawa” they’re more likely to think “bureaucracy” and the carefully conservative suits and flats that go with it. But Ottawa actually has pockets of style all over the place – from the rockabilly chicks DIYing vintage-style clothes and victory rolls to the couturiers along Sussex Drive – and the fifth Ottawa Fashion Week (Fall/Winter 2011) is the place to show it all off.

This week sees the launch of something new – something that hasn’t been done before, not in Ottawa, possibly not even in all of North America. This week – Tuesday, March 8th, in fact – begins VERSeFest, a new annual poetry festival that showcases both the “page” and “stage” events happening in town.
